At MS104 we see education as a team effort. The team consists of the school, the student and the home. The school must provide an academically enriched environment with experiences to foster physical, emotional and intellectual growth. The student must come to school prepared to take responsibility for his learning and his actions, and the parent must support the efforts of the school and provide the child with constant encouragement and room for growth. MS104 is designed to promote academic excellence and establish a sense of personal identification with the school and a feeling of belonging among staff, and students. In order to accomplish this, our school organization consists of:
- “houses” within each grade to promote a feeling of family and to reduce the feeling of anonymity among students
- teacher teams within each house sharing responsibility for the education and personal development of a common group of students
- schedules with blocks of time and common planning periods, to foster interdisciplinary programs and creative use of time
Grade Level Asst. Principal & Guidance Counselor
As part of our effort to community building, each grade has its own guidance counselor and assistant principal that travels with the children through all three years in the school. This system provides more personal knowledge of our children and increases the sense of community by giving families in each grade several options for contact if they need help or support.
